Representatives from the Sheppey Tourism Alliance attended the Leisure Travel Show at Dover Cruise Terminal on Sunday 13 March. Our stand attracted many visitors, all eager to learn about this 'new' destination. Sheppey has long been popular with holiday-makers, but for many people, the island is just a point on the map and mainly forgotten.

With a new team, the Isle of Sheppey is beginning to see a tourism plan come together. It's not going to be an overnight solution, but the many attractions to be found on the island will be developed over the next few years, aimed at the specialist groups; historians, bird-watchers, choral, orchestral and water-sports to name but a few. The traditional holiday-maker will soon start to see a tidier and colourful island. A programme for individuals for short break holidays will shortly be made available.

The team had great success at the kent county show this year handing out visit sheppey leaflets to the hundreds of vistors at the Sheppey Tourisum Alliance stall. The Blue Town Heritage Centre, Ginger hair design, BRFM and Seaveiw and Warden hoilday parks joined us to show just some of what the Isle of Sheppey has to offer.
